As a young but rapidly growing business, Shimmer Telecom faced a number of issues if they wanted to succeed in their chosen market. Not least of these was their use of technology. Like many growing businesses, their IT systems had evolved over time and shaped themselves around business practices without necessarily following methodologies which made the best use of the technology at hand. Data was stored on multiple PCs and laptops with no centralisation for storage, security & backups. There were no straight forward methods to permit remote working, essential in this business. Finally there was a lack of centralised e-mail & calendar functionality, making it difficult to manage appointments between staff and share e-mail based information.

O.P.Dhaun & Co. are a boutique accountancy firm, truly understanding the difficulties of small and medium sized enterprises. Established for over 28 years their business is based around providing a high quality, personal service and they therefore expect the same in return. The business, consisting of 4 members of staff, treats technology as an essential tool and when it came time for a system refresh a local Microsoft Certified Partner was the natural choice. After a couple of brief brainstorming sessions, a system was designed based around Windows XP Professional and Microsoft Office 2003 Small Business Edition.
